Lea Cheung Wing Lam received her early training in the Guzheng at the tender age of 4, studying under the tutelage of renowned teacher Lau Wan-man. As a member of the Chingmiao Guzheng Ensemble, she honed her skills through diverse performance opportunities. Lea's dedication and talent were evidenced by her attainment of the Performing Artist Certificate from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Grade 9 Guzheng Certificate from the Central Conservatory of Music. In 2022, she received the Bronze Award in the Amateur Category of the World Guzheng Competition. Lea's academic pursuits then led her to Australia, where she obtained a Master's degree in Creative Music Therapy from Western Sydney University, becoming a registered music therapist. Driven by a desire to integrate Chinese music into therapeutic applications, Lea presented her work at the 2024 International Conference on Improvisation in music therapy in Belgium. There, she shared her approach of using the pentatonic scale to support youth with traumatised experiences, proposing the powerful potential of music to connect one's inner self with Guzheng.
